Membership Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct – Home Farm Equestrian
Effective Date: 1/1/2026
Home Farm Equestrian is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all members, ensuring a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
All individuals associated with Home Farm Equestrian—including members, parents/carers, committee members, volunteers, trainers, judges, and visitors—are expected to act with respect, integrity, and consideration for others at all times.
Any concerns or complaints should be raised openly with Karen Barette, Chairperson of the club.
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the premises and/or revocation of membership.
1. General Expectations (Applies to Everyone)
All individuals must:
Treat others with respect, dignity, and fairness at all times
Not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religion, or sexual identity
Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times
Respect officials and accept decisions without dispute or abuse
Avoid bullying, harassment, or intimidation of any kind
Act as a positive role model within the club environment
Follow all club rules, guidelines, and safety procedures
Raise concerns appropriately rather than through confrontation or disruption
2. Conduct Around Horses & Safety
Horse welfare must always be prioritised
All individuals must act safely and responsibly around horses
Suitable riding attire must be worn when mounted or handling horses
Instructions from coaches, organisers, and officials must be followed
Children must be supervised appropriately at all times
3. Behaviour on Site
No smoking, alcohol, or drug use is permitted on Home Farm premises or when representing the club (strictly enforced for juniors; adults must act responsibly at all times)
Members must respect restricted areas:
No access beyond the Home Farm stables towards the farm
Vehicles, equipment, and facilities must be used responsibly
All attendees must follow event-specific instructions, including timings and parking
4. Competitor Responsibilities
Members must ensure they are familiar with and adhere to all rules and guidance
Members must arrive on time for clinics and competitions or notify organisers if delayed
Members must pay all fees promptly
Members must take responsibility for their conduct and performance
Members may be required to assist with duties as part of club activities
5. Parents & Carers
Parents and carers must:
Encourage children to follow rules and participate fairly
Promote enjoyment, development, and effort—not just results
Never force a child to participate
Never punish or belittle a child for mistakes or performance
Support officials and publicly accept their decisions
Set a positive example in behaviour and attitude
Support their child’s involvement in a constructive and respectful manner
6. Junior Members
Junior members must:
Follow all rules and respect officials and organisers
Treat others with respect at all times
Arrive on time for activities or inform a responsible adult if delayed
Wear appropriate riding attire at all times when on site (unless advised otherwise)
Not smoke, consume alcohol, or use drugs under any circumstances
Respect restricted areas of the venue
7. Coaches, Committee Members, Volunteers, Trainers & Judges
Individuals in positions of responsibility must:
Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all participants
Build relationships based on trust and respect
Ensure activities are appropriate to age, ability, and experience
Promote fair play and positive participation
Maintain high standards of behaviour and professionalism
Hold appropriate qualifications where required
Follow all club policies and relevant regulations
Never misuse their position for personal benefit
Never condone unsafe behaviour, rule breaches, or prohibited substance use
Encourage participants to take responsibility for their conduct
Committee Expectations
Attend meetings where possible and provide apologies if unable
Actively support club activities and events
Failure to attend:
3 committee meetings, or
3 show days (help duties)
may result in removal from the committee (unless not a full-time Jersey resident)
Data Protection
All relevant individuals must comply with data protection requirements
Personal responsibility is held for maintaining the confidentiality and security of member data
8. Anti-Bullying Policy
Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated
All individuals are expected to contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment
Any concerns should be reported immediately
9. Breach of Conduct
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in:
Verbal warning
Removal from an activity or event
Disqualification (where applicable)
Suspension or revocation of membership
Removal from committee or volunteer role
All decisions will be made at the discretion of Home Farm Equestrian.
10. Agreement
By participating in Home Farm Equestrian activities, all individuals agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
